About us
Like a bruin café in Antwerp
Bierhuis is built like the brown cafés of Flanders: dark wood, green tiles, brass, and a chalkboard where tonight's draught list is written by hand. Oil lamps on the tables, Belgian glassware on the shelves.
We only take bookings for the dining room, the lounge and bar are always open for walk-ins. Come as you are, stay longer than you planned.

Why can't I book more than 8 people online?

Are dogs or other pets allowed?
Unfortunately not indoors, but in summer they're welcome on the outdoor terrace, and we're happy to bring out a water bowl on request.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Do you serve every beer in its proper glass?
Yes, just like in Belgium. Each brewery designs glassware to lift precisely their beer, and every beer here is served in its proper glass. Kwak, for example, arrives in its famous coachman's glass with a wooden stand.

How do I get to Bierhuis? Is there parking?
We're at S:t Olofsgatan 23 in central Uppsala, a stone's throw from the Fyris river. There's a parking garage in the building next door.
What is the difference between Trappist and abbey beer?
Trappist beer is brewed within monastery walls under the monks' supervision, only a handful of breweries worldwide may carry the label. Abbey beer is brewed in the same tradition but outside the walls, often under licence from an abbey.Learn more in the beer school →
Does the beer selection change, or is it always the same?
Both: taps 1-16 are our permanent draughts, always on, while taps 17-24 are rotating guest taps, each beer stays on until the keg runs dry, then a new one takes its place. New bottles also arrive in the bottle cellar all the time.See what's pouring right now →
What is moules frites?
